To be honest, there cannot be a completely painless waxing session
because you are definitely going to feel that pinch of the strip pulling your
hair. However, that pinch is actually tolerable if you stay up to the mark on
your regime and do everything you can to block the avoidable pain.
We have enlisted 10 quick tips to try for alleviating the discomfort and
unnecessary pain that accompanies you every time you get your hair waxed.
- Ideal waxing is possible if your hair length is at least three-quarters of a centimeter. Waxing before that could break your hair instead of pulling from the root causing pain. Let it grow to that length!
- Always exfoliate for a week before your waxing appointment. It will take off the dead skin and allow the ingrown hair to pop out without you having to get your nails at work for that and make the skin sore.
- Pre-wax lotions make your skin clean and oil-free which in turn makes the process easier. Skipping that can make you struggle to pull off all the hair at once and repeated attempts is equivalent to pain.
- Similarly, post-wax lotions have soothing agents that calm your skin after all the hullabaloo of waxing. It also removes the wax residue from skin eliminating the need of using any other chemically made cleansers which could add to irritation of the skin.
- It is essential to maintain a perfect temperature for a flawless waxing process. Cold wax won’t stick to the hair firmly making the strip-pull harder and painful. Also, if you are one of them who prefer different dipping for body and face, or body and bikini, order double wax warmer.
- In case of extra sensitive skin, ask your esthetician to cold compress your skin after waxing. Ice, rose water, and the most effective, aloe vera gel, are some of the things that can give you an immediate relief from the waxing pain.
- Seriously, stop shaving! Juggling between the two will only give a chance to your hair to become more coarse and wild. And every time you shave, your skin is new to the blue wax beads which will make you relive the pain of your first waxing experience.
- Avoid body-hugging clothes, sun, artificial tans, chemical beauty products, etc. for at least 48 hours after waxing. It is essential to give time to your skin for healing if you don’t want the itchiness or redness to persist.
- Use trusted waxing products instead of bagging the cheaper ones. This is your skin we are talking about; you don’t want to harm that part of your body in exchange for just a few dollars.
- Spare yourself if you are on your period, or have had a bucketful of alcohol the previous night to not stress your skin. Sessions conducted on these days might make waxing unnecessarily more painful.
Each of these tips is your
responsibility except for one; the use of good products is mine. I have been
using Starpil’s hard wax beans for a
long time now and I am actually not slipping back to shaving like I used to
before. I prefer home-waxing, and Starpil has made me so comfortable with it
that I also ordered a spa bed available for sale there, just to
enjoy my massage after two days of waxing!
